Things to do/see:
-
FISHING: Fly out for the day to a nearby
lake for some of the best lake
trout fishing you will ever experience! The proprietors are onsite and can
make all of the arrangements for you. Or try your luck for grayling at the
lodge. A canoe, boat and basic fishing tackle are supplied.
-
HIKING: The abundant wildlife has
ensured an extensive network of hiking
trails. It is easy to travel most places on foot. There are well-marked
hiking trails around the lodge and along the lakeshore. The more
adventurous
will want to explore the surrounding hills and alpine areas. Trails into
these areas are rugged and require good fitness. Once in the alpine areas,
walking is easy. There are 1000 foot granite cliffs overlooking the lake
to
challenge mountain climbers.
Mountain sheep make their home in the hills around the lake and can often
be
seen from the lodge. Hikes into the alpine meadows provide excellent
opportunities to view these beautiful animals amid spectacular scenery.
Moose are common in the valley and can often be seen on the hillsides or
along the lakeshore in the late evenings and early mornings. Grizzly and
black bear can occasionally be seen roaming the hillsides. In this
wilderness environment the bears tend to be shy and flee at the sight or
smell of people.
Wolves, fox, wolverine, lynx and coyotes also live in the area. Rarely
seen
due to their nocturnal habits, the best opportunity lies in the open
alpine
areas. Around the lake you can seeloons, ducks, porcupine, beaver, muskrat and otter.
